너무 당당히, 오래, 거기 있었다 > watchdog

그동안 아무도 그것이 왜 거기 있는지 궁금해 하지도, 불쾌해하지도 않았나 봅니다.
심지어 자신의 영업장과 무관한 아파트 담벼락과 인도에 접한 공간에 설치된 불법 돌출간판에는 **보신탕이라는 글자가 뚜렷이 새겨져 있고 심지어 오랜 세월의 흔적까지 보입니다. 아무도 문제제기를 하지 않았기 때문일 것입니다.

눈에 잘 띄게 하고자 간판 높이도 매우 낮고 위태롭게 걸려 있어 오가는 시민들의 안전을 위협하고 있습니다. 이 간판이 설치 되도록 허가한 공무원은 없을 것입니다.

허가도 없이 사육되고 도축되고 판매되는 개들,  무법천지 개농장주나 도축자들의 당당함 만큼이나 저 불법간판도 시민들의 무관심 속에 우뚝 솟아 오랜시간 수 많은 개들을 죽음으로 몰았습니다.

그러나 오늘로서 그 역할도 수명을 다 할 것으로 보입니다. 와치독 캠페인에 참여하는 케어 정회원의 투철한  신고정신 때문입니다.

와치독의 간판 타격 캠페인은 계속 진행되고 있습니다. 이제 시민들도 자발적으로, 또 개인적으로  행동해 주시고 있어 캠페인의 범위가 얼만큼 확대 되었는지 파악조차 어렵습니다.

아직 참여해 보지 않은 분들도 참여해 보세요. 간판타격이 보신탕집을 없애는 것은 아니지만  왜 시민들이 민원을 직접 넣고 있는지 그들이 알아야 보신탕 판매 행위가 더 이상 현 시대와 걸맞지 않는다는 것을 깨닫게 될 것입니다. 개농장을 없애는 와치독 단원 까지는 아니라도 간판 신고는 어렵지 않습니다. 누구나 인터넷으로 확인하고 컴퓨터로 민원을 넣을 수 있습니다.

<보신탕집 간판타격 캠페인은  보신탕집, 사철탕집이라는 영업소 이름 때문에 문제제기가 가능한 것이 아닙니다. 간판의 설치와 관련하여 신고 및 허가 되었는지 그 기준에 맞게 설치 되었는지 여부를 파악해 신고하는 것입니다.>

No one seemed to raise any questions about the presence of an illegal Boshintang sign affixed to an apartment wall and adjacent sidewalk. The sign, clearly displaying the words "Boshintang," has no business being there and is even displaying signs of aging. Yet, nobody has thought to question its presence.

The sign has been placed at an alarmingly low height for the sake of visibility, dangling perilously in a manner that poses a threat to any passersby. It's unlikely that any government officials would have granted permission for that. 

This illegal sign looms tall and proud, a stark symbol of the countless dogs that have lost their lives throughout the years, all while the public remains apathetic.

Thanks to a report by a Care member participating Watchdog campaign, the sign will be removed today. The campaign to demolish these illegal signs continues, and it's hard to determine how far it has spread now that concerned citizens are stepping forward to volunteer.

If you haven't already, please consider participating in this movement. Although it may not eradicate dog meat restaurants themselves, filing a complaint will alert these businesses that their practices are no longer acceptable in modern society. Reporting a sign is a simple process that anyone can do by checking online and submitting a complaint on their computer.
