대한민국 개농장과 도살장이 모두 폭파되는 그날까지 와치독은 계속 강해질 것 > watchdog

케어는 2018년 와치독을 결성하였고, 2021년 6월 4명의 기획자들이 새로 모이며 와치독을 재정비하였습니다. 와치독은 대한민국 개농장 완전 철폐를 목표로 전문 교육을 받은 비밀첩보활동조직이며 자원활동 조직입니다. 본격적인 활동을 시작한 와치독은 365일 개농장 조사와 함께 영구 폐쇄를 위한 민원 및 고발을 하고 있습니다. 약 2년간 350개 이상의 개농장과 도살장 및 보신탕식당을 완전철폐하며 300명이 넘는 동물들을 직접 구조한 바 있습니다.

지난 토요일에도 케어는 옥천의 도살장을 없애는 과정에서 11명의 개들을 구조하였습니다. 그 직후 천안으로 이동, 30년이 넘은 천안의 도살장을 철폐하며 7기 예비단원들의 활약은 사전조사의 치밀함과 함께 이후 동물들의 사후관리를 하는 과정에서도 빛이 나고 있습니다.

도살장 하나, 개농장 하나를 없애는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다.
언더커버라는 비밀첩보활동은 기본이고, 다양한 법률적 지식과 현장 대응 능력을 겸비해야 하며 거대한 산업을 결국은 무너뜨리겠다는 정신력으로 담대하고 집요해야 하며 끈기를 지녀야 합니다.

이번 주 토요일, 와치독 7기 단원 교육이 시작됩니다. 개인의 명예가 아닌, 영리적 이익이 아닌, 오로지 동물의 이익을 목표로 철저한 서약식과 함께 단원으로서의 자격을 얻게 되는 와치독. 7기 단원들의 활약을 기대합니다.

In 2018, the animal rights group CARE created a covert team named Watchdog. The team underwent a significant transformation in 2021, when a team of four planners revamped its operations. Watchdog's primary mission focuses on the eradication of dog farms across South Korea, an ambitious objective that they strive to achieve through the dedication of highly trained volunteers.

Since its revitalization, Watchdog's continuous efforts have led to year-round scrutiny of dog farms, aiming for their permanent closure. In just two years, they have successfully shut down over 350 entities, including dog farms, slaughterhouses, and dog meat restaurants, rescuing more than 300 animals in the process.

Last Saturday showcased the commendable efforts of Watchdog's seventh cohort of trainees. They undertook the task of dismantling a slaughterhouse in Okcheon, swiftly moving on to close down another long-standing slaughterhouse in Cheonan. Their rigorous investigations and comprehensive care for the rescued animals were nothing short of exemplary.

Shutting down a single dog farm or slaughterhouse is far from easy. It demands covert operations, sound legal knowledge, and effective on-the-spot responses. Above all, it calls for a steadfast will to take down a deep-rooted industry.

This Saturday marks the start of training for Watchdog's seventh cohort. These prospective members will take an oath, pledging to serve not for personal acclaim or gain, but for the welfare of animals. As they set out to earn their qualifications, we look forward to witnessing their future achievements.
