사상 최악의 동물학대 케어가 보고도 믿기지 않습니다.

3년간 수거해 모은 수백 명의 개들을 전부 굶겨 죽인 악랄한 동물학대자의 현장을 케어는 오늘 다녀왔습니다. 현장에서 최대한 내부를 봐야 했고 진실을 끌어내기 위해 마음을 다잡으며 학대자와 대화를 하며 마음을 다잡았음에도 불구하고 너무나 마음이 무겁습니다. 육안으로만 파악해도 사체는 총 300~400구가 넘어 보입니다.

사체는 이미 썩어 문드러져서 바닥에 들러붙어 있었고 그 사체들이 바닥과 바닥을 이룬 곳에 새로운 개들을 넣어 놓고 또 굶겨 죽인 사건입니다. 옆의 동료가 죽으면 그 살을 파먹고 버티다 또 굶어 죽어갔습니다. 사체들은 마당 안 여기저기 즐비한 고무 통 여러 곳에 나누어 가득 쌓여 있었고 그 사체들 또한 썩어 형체가 사라지고 있었습니다. 구옥으로 된 방 곳곳에서는 사체들과 두개골 뼈들이 나뒹굴고 있었습니다.

번식장과 도살장을 겸했던 곳, 폐기물들을 수거하며 최근 수년간은 번식장 등지에서 번식능력을 상실한 나이 든 작은 개들을 주로 데려와 그대로 처박아 두고 굶겨 죽였습니다.

최근에 들어와 굶어 죽어가던 개들 4명만이 살아남았고 오늘 구조되었습니다.
3명은 양평군 내 위치한 동물병원에서 입원 치료 중이고 1명은 케어가 서울의 병원으로 이송하였습니다. 3 아이까지도 케어가 인계받아 치료하고자 합니다.

내일 케어는 와치독 단원들과 함께 다시 현장에 갑니다. 오전 11시경부터 라이브를 시작하도록 하겠습니다. 사체 300~400, 어쩌면 그 이상이 될 사체 수백 구를 처리하며 현장이 얼마나 끔찍했을지. 이러한 학대를 막으려면 어떤 제도들이 필요한 것인지 다시 현장을 보며 우리 모두 깊이 고민하는 시간이 필요하다고 판단합니다. 자세한 상황을 라이브로 알리겠습니다. 학대자는 고발되었습니다

 This is one of the worst cases of animal cruelty we've ever seen. The abuser starved at least 300 to 400 dogs to death.

Today, CARE visited the scene of vicious animal cruelty where hundreds of dogs, collected over three years, were starved to death. Suppressing our emotions was crucial in our efforts to explore the situation and obtain information from the abuser, but our hearts were weighed down with grief. The number of bodies totals at least three to four hundred, scattered throughout the premises and piled up in rubber barrels.

The dead bodies were already decomposed and stuck to the bottom of the rubber barrels, and new dogs were put in where the previous dogs had died, only to starve to death again. The dogs would eat the flesh of their neighbors as they perished, creating a vicious cycle of starvation and cannibalism. The bodies were piled up in various rubber barrels scattered around the yard, and they too were rotting and losing their shape. The grim scene was made even worse by the presence of bodies and skulls scattered throughout the rooms in the house.

The location was both a puppy mill and a slaughterhouse, and the abuser recently had been collecting smaller, older dogs that were no longer able to reproduce, and left them there to starve to death.

Only 4 of the dogs that were recently brought survived and were rescued today. One was transported to a hospital in Seoul by Care. Three dogs are being hospitalized at a veterinary clinic in Yangpyeong County, which Care aims to take over and treat as well.

The next day, CARE will return to the site with the Watchdogs. We will be live streaming from approximately 11:00 a.m. onwards. It is important that we take some time to contemplate the enormity of this tragedy and consider what measures need to be put in place to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
