평생 기어서 살아야 했던 깜장이의 역전 스토리 > 보호 & 입양활동

깜장이는 사냥개로 이용되었습니다.
멧돼지를 사냥하는 주인은 깜장이를 멧돼지 몰이로 키웠습니다.
평소에 짧은 목줄에 묶어 두고, 불어터진 개라면을 주었는데
멧돼지 몰이를 할 때만 깜장이는 달릴 수 있었을 것입니다.

그러던 중 육중한 멧돼지에게 들이 받혔고 깜장이는 그날부터 주저앉아 버렸습니다.
멧돼지를 무느라 성한 이도 하나 없습니다. 엉금엉금 기어 다니며 낯선 사람을 봐도 반가워했던 이 녀석을 제보자는 자신의 반려견을 산책시키다 보았고, 케어로 도움을 요청하였습니다. 케어는 한달음에 달려가 주인에게 깜장이를 포기 받고 깜장이가 매우 어려운 대수술을 받을 수 있도록 도와주었습니다.

깜장이는 RUN 이 오픈된 이후부터 런에서 신나게 달렸습니다. 하마터면 주저앉은 채로 살다 욕창으로 결국 죽었을 깜장이는 그렇게 건강하게 완치되었지만 국내에서는 입양처를 찾을 수 없어 RUN 에서도 꽤 오래 대기해야 했습니다. 결국 케어 입양팀이 도브 프로젝트로 입양을 보냈습니다. 깜장이는 LA 임시보호가정에서 수개월 머물었고 결국 임보가정이 깜장이가 너무나 예쁘게 잘 지내주어 그대로 입양을 하기로 했다고 합니다.

A story of Ggamjang: overcoming the odds of life. 

Ggamjang was a hunting dog. The only time she could run freely was when hunting wild boars, for which was the sole purpose she had been raised. A reward she obtained for such a hazardous job was food waste mixed with Ramen. The hunting life of Ggamjang ended on a tragic note. One day, she couldn’t avoid the wild boar’s attack and was severely injured: her teeth were broken fighting the boar, and even worse, the boar’s attack resulted in paraplegia, complete paralysis of her hind legs.  

The informant, who was walking her dog at the moment, found this paralyzed dog who still greeted her happily. After receiving a report, Care made the owner surrender the ownership of Ggamjan, and helped her to have a complex major surgery. 

Fortunately, Ggamjan was strong enough to fully recover from it. She enjoyed her new life at Run, freely running and playing with friends. However, as it was difficult for a large-sized ex-hunting dog to find a new adoptive family, she had to wait at Run for a quite long time. Finally, Care managed to send her to our incredible partner in L.A. for adoption. After she had a few more months in her loving foster home, she was recently decided to be adopted by them. 

We are truly grateful to everyone who helped her overcome adversities: the informant, everyone who sponsored her, activists who had been taking care of her at Run, our global adoption team, Dove Project in L.A., Park Eunju who introduced this amazing animal hospital, and so on.
